Program Structure

Treats. is a collective that convenes multiple times a month for group sensory activities and in-the-world practice.

You’ll be exposed to a variety of research-based methods for self-care and reflection in a welcoming and safe space. Take the guess work off of your plate in your most vulnerable burned out state. Create a practice over time that’s just as unique as you are. Do it all in community.

Treats. experiences function under four pillars of programming:

  • Open sessions for you to freely practice what you already know brings you peace. If you haven’t been able to take the time or yourself all week, you can come to a DYT with a book or creative project to get back to you. Like kids experience parallel play and intuitively know what they need, we give each other the permission and space to just … do your thing.

  • Introductions to new modalities of play and rest for when you aren’t sure where to start in your healing. FYT sessions (inspired by community suggestions!) are extremely varied, ranging from activities like creative writing, collaging, gardening and painting. Always connected to our physical senses to take advantage of the nervous system regulation benefits, always unique and fun.

  • Taking our new collective awareness of rest and play into the world. Remember the field trips from your youth? ReTreats. invites you to practice the mindfulness and joy you've found in community with outings like exhibit visits, photo walks, dinners and thrifting trips to name a few.

  • Clinically informed chats about any and everything that pops up in our in our time together. From the stories we tell ourselves about our personal history to how perfectionism can show up in our lives, this is a time where you can be open about your experiences and receive the support you crave.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

So basically…

Months and months of overwork during the most traumatic and isolating time of our lives left me feeling so disconnected from my creativity. My nervous system was overactive. A Slack fire drill could send me spinning for hours. I was itching for ease and any glimmer of rest and play.

After a lot of feelings, research around burnout and loving conversations with friends and family, I decided to pull the rip cord and pour into myself. I quit my job. I cooked just to cook. Painted with watercolors from the Target kids section. Moved my body in service to a long lost yoga practice and danced with abandon to Dua Lipa. All of this was bringing some color back into my life, but it bothered me that the pursuit of pleasure and living for real were thought of as rebellious and mostly done solo. I wanted to dig into the new realizations I was having, gut check a TV show idea and get some feedback about these poems (or are they songs??) in my notes app. Wouldn’t it be great if like-minded and supportive people could come together a few times a month, workshop ideas they were having in a safe space and heal their nervous systems on their terms? All while having some fun? Aha.

Following this hunch and wanting to support this new wave of burnout awareness in the US, I am building a program that will include tactile play explorations, field trips, a speaker series, personal reflection exercises, a newsletter, and “cross-pollination” feedback sessions with participants with different backgrounds. Maybe this gives you the confidence to materialize your next great idea. Maybe it’s just a few hours where you can put your armor down and learn something new. Maybe it’s the place where you can create a sustainable care practice that finally feels right. In any case it could be the thing we’ve all needed to combat the dulling effects of burnout.

As there are generational and societal factors that keep people from marginalized communities from safe spaces to explore, fail and play, that is precisely who I hope to prioritize. We all win when these perspectives, souls and life stories are nurtured.

We only get to a richer world when the dreamers, problem solvers and magicians of society are given some time and space to do what they do. Good thing there’s potential for that to be all of us.

Your body, your being and your time belong to you.

Let’s get free together. ”

A Few Words

  • "I feel like I've been given permission to rest and relax...by me? Is that possible? Love it so much."

  • "Wow I didn't know I needed this - work has had me clenching my fist all day."

  • "When does membership start?! I can't wait to put this on the cal, it's been so hard to make time otherwise."
